Veer Lofts, one of Vulcan's project in South Lake Union has recently completed construction. The condo is a few blocks away from Vulcan's other projects (Enso, Rollin and 2200 Westlake) on 9th Ave and Harrison in a slightly more industrial feeling part of South Lake Union.

The 99 homes are comprised of full lofts, flexi lofts, and flat floor plans. Full lofts are on the ground floor and the top floor with 16 ' ceiling heights in the main level and 8' on the loft level. Flexi lofts are located on the 4th and 5th floors with approximately 12' ceiling heights in the main level and 4 1/2' ceilings in the flexi level (for sleeping). Flats are on the 2nd and 3rd floor with 9' ceilings.

Pricing:

Full Lofts
High $400,000's and above- 810-1,073 sqft.

Flexi Lofts
~$370,000 and above- 620-710 sqft. (exclu. flexi space)

Flats
~$400,000 (1 Left)- 751 sqft

Here are some of my observations from the tour:

  • Units have concrete floors, exposed wood beam ceilings and floor to ceiling windows. The design is modern and industrial looking with an efficient layout.
  • Most of the full lofts homes come with an alcove. The alcove space is tight to use as a bedroom but ideal as an office space, library or perhaps a yoga room. Floor plans for the full lofts and flex-lofts are quite similar to those homes you'd find in 19th Ave Lofts and Madison Lofts. However, 19th Ave Lofts and Madison Lofts have more individual outdoor balconies or terrace spaces than Veer Lofts.
  • As for the flexi-lofts, a ladder is installed in each home for access to the flexi space. I think a more upscale version of the ladder will look better in the home than the one they installed. If you are athletic enough, this floor plan might work for you, which requires a bit of agility to get into the sleeping area. I didn't get the chance to tour their flats. Looking at their floor plans, they remind me of the Klee's open one bedroom homes in Belltown, open concept layout with the sleeping area close to the entry (not ideal in my opinion).

Overall, the building's exterior design blends well with the neighborhood. The interior finishes turned out looking better than the model unit in the SLU Discovery Center. Since this is a developing neighborhood, there is not a whole lot going on around but you are within a few minutes from downtown/Belltown. If you're a lofts junky and this neighborhood appeals to you, it's worth a look.

Veer Lofts will be holding their grand opening this weekend from 11.00am to 6.00pm in their sale center located on 401 9th Ave North #110.
