How can they possibly fit a building on that lot? It can barely hold the security business thats there now. This building will kill the views of The Parc, both Klee Buildings, part of Avenue One, The Vine, and Bellora.
ML – It’s not a problem – the site for the project is exactly the same size as Bellora. Just like the Parc killed the views from the Banner Building, and Avenue One killed the views from The Ellington…unless there is a view rights easement [like the Cristalla building has] or some sort of zoning restriction, views are not owned and they are not an entitlement without an easement [i.e. there is no protection of PRIVATE views in the State Environmental Policy Act — that would be unconstitutional for other property owners].
Didn’t the City adopt a “View Corridor” provision in its latest April 2006 General Plan for the development of the downtown. I would assume that this corridor misses this building?
I forgot to add: Does “green” mean that there will be no provision for parking? Apparently that is the idea behind the 84 unit 7-story building proposed for 1st and Cedar. A wonderful concept if you can convince everyone to give up their cars, but in the real world not everyone will give up their cars and there will be an even more luctrative trade in parking stalls as mortgage avenues like at the Vine, where stalls now sell in the 35-45K range.
Don’t worry Steven in 10 years when all you can drive is a scooter or take the bus it won’t seem so bad
